🛑 What is Ransomware?
Data & Security
Ransomware is a type of malware that locks your files and asks for money to unlock them. It can be very dangerous!
Imagine someone locking your backpack and asking for money to give you the key. That’s what ransomware does — but with your computer files!
🔓 What happens during an attack?
- 🔗 You click a fake link or download a bad file
- 🔒 Your files get locked or hidden
- 💸 A message asks for money (a “ransom”)
⚠️ Warning: Even if you pay, you might not get your files back!
🧠 How can we stay safe?
- 🚫 Don’t click unknown links or pop-ups
- 🛡️ Use antivirus software
- 💾 Always back up important files
- 🙋♂️ Tell an adult or teacher if something looks wrong
💡 Tip: If your files are backed up, ransomware can’t hurt you as much.
