Data is information. It can come in many different forms. Let’s explore the most common types of data computers use.

🔤 Text Data

Words, letters, sentences — all these are called text data. When you type your name or write a message, you’re using text data.

💡 Tip: Computers store each letter using a special code like ASCII or Unicode!

🔢 Number Data

Numbers are used for scores in games, your age, or the number of likes on a video. They are very important for calculations and records.

This is called numeric data.

🖼️ Image Data

Pictures, drawings, and icons are image data. Computers store them using pixels, colors, and file types like .jpg or .png.

📚 Fun fact: Every image is made up of tiny squares called pixels!

🔊 Sound and Video Data

Music, voice recordings, or videos are also data! They are stored in special formats like .mp3 (sound) or .mp4 (video).

This is called multimedia data.
