A Trojan (or Trojan horse) is a type of malware that pretends to be something useful or fun — but once you download it, it can harm your computer or steal your information!
Just like in the ancient story of the Trojan horse, the danger is hidden inside something that looks safe.
🔍 How does a Trojan work?
A Trojan tricks you into installing it. Once inside your computer, it can:
🛑 Steal your personal data
🔓 Give hackers access to your computer
🔧 Damage or delete files
📩 Send spam messages from your computer
⚠️ Warning: A Trojan does not spread by itself. You have to install it — that's why it's important to be careful!
🛡️ How can you protect yourself?
✅ Only download software from trusted websites
✅ Use antivirus software
✅ Keep your computer updated
✅ Don’t open suspicious emails or attachments
💡 Tip: Always double-check before clicking “Download”!
🏛️ Why is it called a "Trojan"?
The name comes from the ancient Greek story of the Trojan Horse. The Greeks built a huge wooden horse and hid soldiers inside. The horse was given as a gift to the city of Troy, and when the Trojans brought it inside, the hidden soldiers attacked!
🏛️ Fun Fact: Today, we use "Trojan" to describe any trick where the real danger is hidden inside something friendly.
