Have you ever played Minecraft? The game is made of colorful blocks that look like giant pixels. In the real world, screens use pixels too — but they are so small, we usually can’t see them!
Let’s explore what pixels are and how they help us see photos, videos, games, and more.
A pixel is the smallest part of a digital image. It’s like a single dot of color. When you put many pixels together, you get a full picture — just like LEGO® bricks forming a shape.
When we say a screen is “HD” or “4K”, we’re talking about its resolution. This tells us how many pixels it shows — the more pixels, the better the image!
Example: 1920 × 1080 = 1920 pixels wide and 1080 pixels tall = over 2 million pixels!
Each pixel on your screen is made of three tiny lights: Red, Green, and Blue (RGB). These mix together to make every color you see.
If you zoom into a small image, you’ll start to see the square pixels. This is called pixelation. It happens when there aren’t enough pixels to show clear detail.
The more pixels an image has, the sharper and smoother it will look — especially on big screens!
To complete this lesson, you must get at least 80% correct. Good luck!
